Building a Greener Future: EnergyLab Asia and ESCAP Advance Cambodia's First Building Energy Code

2026-03-16 11:41
On March 3rd, EnergyLab Asia and ESCAP co-convened a stakeholder consultation meeting with the Ministry of Land Management, Urban Planning and Construction (MLMUPC) and the National Council for Building Technical Regulation (NCBTR), chaired by H.E. Ros Salin, Secretary of State of MLMUPC.

The meeting reviewed the findings of our baseline study on Cambodia’s construction sector, validated the proposed roadmap for the development and implementation of the Building Energy Code (BEC), and gathered feedback and strategic guidance from the Ministry and key stakeholders.

The BEC is a crucial step toward advancing a more sustainable and energy-efficient building sector in Cambodia. Engaging stakeholders throughout this process is critical to ensuring that the code is technically sound, context-appropriate, and aligned with national priorities. Together, we are not only developing Cambodia’s first Building Energy Code — we are working to ensure that it is practical, relevant, and implementable.

We sincerely appreciate MLMUPC's leadership and thank our partner stakeholders for their active participation and valuable contributions.
