EnergyLab Joined ASEAN Energy Transition Visit in Malaysia

EnergyLab was honored to be part of the Southeast Asia Energy Transition Coalition’s ASEAN Chairmanship Visit in Malaysia, hosted by the Institute Energy Policy and Research (IEPRe) Universiti Tenaga Nasional and Solar Energy Research Institute (SERI) Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia last month.

Our Policy Engagement Manager, Sokphalkun Out, had the opportunity to share the unique opportunities of Cambodia’s clean energy journey, and outline how regional cooperation under Malaysia’s ASEAN Chairmanship can support our renewable energy goals.

Connecting grids across countries can supercharge renewable energy - because when we use wind, solar and hydro power spread over multiple countries we can take advantage of a wider range of weather systems, increasing resilience and reducing costs. But to make this happen, we need countries to increase their interconnection.

The partnership is working to unlock renewable energy potential across Southeast Asia by unlocking regional power grid integration and driving a proactive agenda to deliver a low-carbon economy while ensuring a just energy transition. Cambodia has abundant solar resources, making the country one of the prime locations for the development of renewable energy projects. This put Cambodia in a very good position to be ready to bring green electrons online and provide energy that the region needs.
