Clean Energy Conversations Before the Celebrations: EnergyLab Asia Joins Oxfam's Stakeholder Mapping Workshop in Cambodia

Just before the Khmer New Year, EnergyLab Asia had the pleasure of joining the Stakeholder and Resource Mobilisation Mapping Workshop organised by Oxfam in Cambodia.
Our Clean Energy Policy Manager, Mardy Huot, shared an overview of Cambodia’s energy landscape, highlighting key policies and the country’s direction toward a cleaner, more resilient, and sustainable energy future.
He touched on the growing role of clean energy solutions—such as solar PV and energy storage—in reducing reliance on fossil fuels, lowering costs, diversifying energy sources, and strengthening resilience against external shocks, including recent fuel supply disruptions in the Middle East.
Mardy also highlighted the Royal Government of Cambodia’s recent initiatives—from fuel tax reductions to policy measures encouraging the uptake of EVs, solar systems, and electric cooking appliances through reduced import duties. These shifts are gradually transforming how we travel, how we use and produce electricity, and how we cook at home—while also bringing tangible benefits to Cambodian households and farmers.
The session also provided a valuable space to exchange priorities, identify challenges, and explore stronger collaboration among partners in support of national clean energy targets. We believe it is always more impactful for partners to synergise rather than allocate resources toward duplicated efforts.
Cheers to such engagement—and Happy Khmer New Year!
