EnergyLab Laos’ Sinongpheng (Tik) Bouphanouvong & Tristan Bellingham joined our Regional Co-Directors Natharoun Ngo Son and Dean Rizzetti for a series of high-level meetings with key departments at the Ministry of Industry and Commerce (MOIC) in Lao PDR — and it was well worth the trip.
The EnergyLab team and MOIC leadership took a deep dive into the Ministry’s priorities to explore how EnergyLab Asia can play a meaningful role in advancing clean energy across the country. The conversations were sharp, productive, and full of promise, revealing clear priorities and no shortage of exciting opportunities to get to work on.
This builds on the incredible work already delivered by the EnergyLab Laos team - with two successful Clean Energy Days, the Clean Energy Fellowship and vital work supporting EDL to adopt new grid planning tools already under their belt.
The road ahead is busy, but the direction is clear. Lao PDR has enormous potential, and with the right partnerships and policies in place, the future of clean energy here is looking very bright indeed and we mean that quite literally, given all that glorious Mekong sunshine!
